A London day on 45p
Yesterday I finally got paid! No more living on the Canuck buck, I'm on the Pohmmie pound now. But I didn't get until yesterday afternoon, which meant I had to fill the day with only 45pence in my pocket. That doesn't buy much. I wanted to buy an Italian book (Fabrizzio is going to teach me Italian) but couldn't. I wanted to go to the museum (it's free) but didn't have the bus fare. I wanted to have a nice cup of tea in an outdoor cafe but didn't have 70p.
Well, I'm lying really... I had spent the previous evening 'socialising' and really only wanted to plunk down in Hyde Park with a book. So I found an op shop, picked out a good 25p book, and set up camp in the park.
They had just mowed the lawn in the park... the smell of freshly cut grass is a true sign of summer! There were kids in the park playing cricket, still such a bizarre sight.
Other than that, my existence consists of sessions of trying to decide the course of my life interrupted by copious amounts of alcohol. The old black rum has a hold on me today...
