Career... Not such a dirty word anymore...

I've feared, I've cursed it, I've even run from it, but nowI embrace it. I am set to join the world of the respectable - the working class. It's been a long time since I've lived this life. Well never really, but who's counting.

So, yeah, I will be a resourcer for a recruitment company (I'll give you all the lowdown once I have the contract in my hands). I'm quite excited about it all. I have never gone through this type of job search so it was a huge learning experience for me - primarily about myself. I met with some larger companies, small ones, niche ones, everything. The company I'm with is a niche market agency - recruiting multilungual candidates for a number of markets (I'll be with the IT team). I much prefer the quiet confidence of a niche to the in your face style of the larger firms.

Most importantly, I realized how, at this point in time anyway, I am really not motivated by money. The recruiter positions that I was originally after are based on financial incentives and offer a good bit of dough... if you can hack it. Me, I chose the easier, nicer route, the resourcer. A resourcer is someone who finds the candidates and passes them on to the recruiters who have been sourcing the jobs. There are bonus schemes and all the rest, but that's not the focus of the job. So that's what I am now. Excitement central.

I don't start for a few weeks yet which is good because the job is in Windsor which takes at least an hour to get to from here. So, thankfully Lizzie has her little country shack out there and has offered me a wing or tower or something until I get myself sorted. She's a star that one. Royal saviour.

Other than that I discovered Harrods and Harvey Nichols today - I needed to distract myself while waiting to hear back about the job! Harrod's is really cool - it has everything!! And the rooms are all different styles according to what's in there. It was overwhelming really - I need to go back and digest it all.

Following that I went to Harvey Nichols, a similar style shop nearby and was grabbed by a make-up person as I entered the door and treated to a free make over. It helped to ease my stress (much more than looking at millions of things I could never afford) and I got the call about the job while halfway through the eyes.

Back to the hostel with a quick stop at Oddbins for some celebratory juice...
