I'm here but how do I get home?

When in a new place, my favourite hobby is to just wander... aimlessly roam the streets just seeing where I might end up. With no destination specified, getting there is never a problem. Getting home can be fun. But my sense of direction is getting better now that I've learned the first rule of traversing old cities... streets are not straight and blocks are not square.

This morning I got up and went to the Tate Britain museum - Britain's national art gallery - which is about 10 mins from us. It was really interesting , but I was much more impressed with the building than the art to be honest. It was built in 1897 and has been added on to numerous times. In the new parts there are skylights, but they are aimed inward to black direct light from entering the gallery. That isn't really that exciting, I'm aware, but I was so amazed by this discovery I walk back through sections of the gallery to see how the natural light was allowed through the different parts/eras of the building.

Then I started walking, ended up in Chelsea, a ... higly developed... area. Rich. Posh. Millionaires only. very nice. Schwanky. But then I had to get home. and only had an hour before work... but I did it! With only 1 stop to decide left or right, I made it in plenty of time. I get so proud of myself when I don't get lost.
